Hector Guzman, Music Director
Mariusz Patyra, Violin
Hector Guzman and your Plano Symphony Orchestra open the 2010-2011 Season with "Forza Italia." The first Polish violinist to ever win the Nicolo Paganini International Violin Competition and winner of many other international competitions, Mariusz Patrya takes on one of the most demanding pieces in all concerto literature. His playing of Paganini's Concerto No. 1 has been hailed as, "... a gala of brilliant playing, musical perfection ... an absolutely impeccable technique." Rossini's overture to "William Tell" is possibly the most famous overture in all opera. The trumpet fanfare and climax of this piece have become synonymous with a certain masked man of television legends. Opening Night concludes with Respighi's enourmous work for orchestra, "Roman Festivals." Upon completing the work, Respighi declared that the piece represented his "maximum of orchestra sonority and color. It is impossible to achieve more..."
