Grammy nominees for their last two releases in 2006 and 2007 and International Tango competition winners in New York in 2004, Quartet San Francisco is a crossover specialist from Bach to Brubeck, from Mendelssohn to Mancini. They are at home with classical, jazz, tango, pops, blues, swing and big band. Their Latin and Tango CD, “Latigo” (2006) received Grammy nominations for “Best Classical Crossover” and “Best Engineered, Classical.” The ensemble, which share the stage for this performance with Sandor and Parissa, “Dancing with the Stars” coaches and judges, (Sandor was the lead dancer and soloist in Broadway’s hit “Forever Tango”)earned both the Grand Prize and a Special Prize in the International Tango Competition in New York in 2004 hosted by the Argentine Consulate. Famed soprano Frederica von Stade recently stated, “I have been so impressed by their work: the joyfulness of playing, their innovation, the fun and the genius of putting together such a great evening of music.
